Day 1 - 525,600 Minutes! How will I measure...measure a year!

Hello world! I'm Nikki (Nic-name, of course). I'm a 38 yr old wife and mother of 3 great kids, 1 great son-in-law. I'm a former soldier (Army-HOOAH!!!!) and now, middle-aged chunky chick! I know "me" well, dont I? LoL But lets begin!!!

Soooo, technically, this isnt my first day. My first day started around the 8th of January 2011 when my mother in law convinced me to get the Wii Fit Plus! Mind you, I've been cursing this program for over a year; ever since I went to one of my besties' house, lied about my weight and the machine blew my @$ets up all over that screen when I stepped on the board! Baby Tee showing my belly and all!!!!! I DID NOT find that humorous at all and that lady (the machine lady) had been a *bia* ever since. LoL

But as I said, my mom in law got it first and her child-like enthusiasm really prompted me to go buy it! I'm tellin ya, I LOVE IT! Who'da thunk it?!?!?!? Over the years, I've bought IDK how many 'Sweatin to the Oldies', P90X, Yoga, Bootleg Weight watchers, Billy Blanks and whoever else. They were all good for swattin flies. And lets face it, my attention span is as lengthy as a gnat's wing. (This is how I KNOW that my youngest child is mine.☺) But this whole Wii Fit Plus thing, I really enjoy. When I first got it, I kinda "A'd" my way through it to get to the games so my set-up wasn't correct. However, yesterday, I set up my REAL goals and today I got started.

Sooooooo, lets just put it all out there!!!

January 19, 2011 (when I took my measurements)

* For the record, I will be taking my measurements every week on Sunday morning instead of every day. I've learned from a great fitness guru (my co-worker, Maree) that it's not good to weigh in every day.

Height: 62 in.
Weight: 243 (Also for the record, I was 247 when I first got the weight board but we wont count all that)

My basic exercises tonight (Jan 20, 2011) were:

Basic Step (4x)
Advanced Step (4x)
Free Step (20 min) -While watching Stargate Atlantis (I LOVE the Stargate franchise..All but Stargate Universe...it really sucks!!!) but I digress. ☺

I burned 314 calories!!! YAY me!!! Hurambe!!!!!! (Dont ask me...got it from my sisters! I take it to mean YAY ME!!!☺)

And-ooooh, stay in your seat!!!-I'm even trying this calorie counting thing. This coming from a chick who couldnt care less what the caloric intake was as long as the food was good!!!! According to all the fitness sites I surfed, 1775 calories a day is what I need to get to AND maintain 165lbs.

My total caloric intake (oooh, yall, $10 big-girl words used here! LoL) is 1679!!!!!!! And that was BEFORE burning the 314 on the Wii! And the most important thing....I aint starving myself! I LOVE THIS!!!

Gotta tell ya...what makes this even more special for me is that I'm a disabled Army Veteran AND on 2 Nov 2010, I was rear ended by a woman who clearly was not paying attention. I've had back problems for as long as I can remember and it was agitated by the car accident so before getting this Wii, I pretty much had given up on this weight loss thing and resigned myself to be the Minion (from the movie, Despicable Me) that my kids called me and the Teddy Graham that my hubby so affectionately calls me. (Brown and round w/short legs)

Someone once told me, "it is a happy man (or woman in my case) who can laugh at himself". I must be one jolly soul!

Sooooo go with me on this journey and lets see where it takes us or lets see if I poop out on it. Only time will tell.

  1. You go girl. I am going with you. I don't have the WII because my first experience with it landed me in the emergency room. I will stick with my treadmill. Something I can handle and can handle.

I lost 53 lbs in 2009. Gained 20 of them back in 2010. Don't plan to ride this roller coaster any more. Went down to a nice 18/20 in 2009. End of 2010 in a 22/24. Will not do this anymore. My goal is a 14, my weight goal is 175. And that being before 2011 ends. Will be graduating from college this year. Will not be this size. Presently I am at 265. Not gonna stay here. That's 90 pounds. Hey if I can do 90, I can do 100. Will take the 10 bonus pounds!

Soooo.....let's go daughter. Vicky is already ahead of us. We have to catch up and keep up and together we can all do this! No more big sexy club. We are joining a new club! YEAH!

  2. Hey there my 2nd daughter(My son is her hubby.)How ya doing?

This will be a lenghtly comment since it is my first posting.

I know that doing the South Beach Diet and Weight Watchers Points Plus is two great programs for weight loss and not depriving yourself of certain foods. If your thing is counting calories- go for it girs and guysl!!! I hate counting calories.

I hate exercising,(I am alergic to exercise because it makes me break out in sweat- get that pun?) I detest exercise, and I want to "throw-up" over exercising. Guess that is enough descriptions on saying how I feel about exercise.

Now to tell you-all how I came up with the idea of using the WII Fit Plus Exercise program.

At Christmas time last year I was visiting Nikki,my son, and the grandkids. I played the WII sports and resort games. I was hooked!! I said to my self "I could get those and have fun and get some exercise too." I liked playing those games so I decided to get the WII Fit Plus for exercising after talking to different people.

I never ever have liked exercising. My daughter told me that I may not like to exercise, but when I do it afterwards I will not regret having done it as the Edorphins (brain chemicals)are released and you feel good.

Because of this you receive several benefits- weight loss, matabolism goes faster, better sleep, less depression.

I will post daily here as well. (Or sure try to) Maybe being accountable to people will help me stay "on track" and do better. Golly gee would I like to post and say I had ate 6 Milky Way candy bars if I had ate that many??!!!

You-all be blessed. Looking forward for this blog to "take off and fly"
    Trish
